Opening For Jim Lauderdale

Wow, it’s not often that you get to open for one of your heroes. And even rarer, that hero makes sure he’s there to watch your set! I’ve been a pretty lucky guy lately, getting to perform for folks all across Colorado and open for some amazing musicians.
But my hometown show last Thursday opening for Jim Lauderdale was a highlight to be sure!

Jim’s songs have been recored by Artists such as: Gary Allan, Tab Benoit, Solomon Burke, Shawn Camp, Mark Chesnutt, The Derailers, The Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, Jack Ingram, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Buddy Miller, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Blake Shelton, George Strait (14 times over), Sunny Sweeney, Lucinda Williams, Lee Ann Womack and more.

Jim has recored at least 22 studio albums as an artist himself, all of which are stellar! And he’s participated on many others including an amazing album that earned a Grammy where he collaborated with Dr. Ralph Stanley.

So, he’s obviously an accomplished musician and songwriter. But, he’s also a really great human being! He made a point of popping his head in the green room before I went on stage and wished me good luck. In all the openings I’ve had no one has ever done that. And it meant a lot to me!
He had kind words for me once I got off stage and he even had kind words for me during his own set. And man did he play an amazing set!
Song after Song after Song, all written great all performed with soul and authenticity…

So, thank’s Jim! I’m happy to see that the “Good Guy” can make it.

Below are some photos and a little video from the show!
